It's not often a medical illustrator gets to do something so wildly outside of their specialty...but I got a call from an art director at Duluth Trading Company who liked the technical nature of my work, and had noticed the careful rendering of fabric in a couple of my pieces. She decided to give me a go and it's been so. much. fun. This time I got to do a spaceman in Duluth Trading Company clothing. Wanted to include in a space dog, but no go (sorry Laika, I tried). I also tried getting the Vulcan salute, which went over well but we ultimately decided it might be an infringement (imitation is the sincerest form of flattery). Thank you to my gracious and patient partner who rolled around on my studio floor in motorcycle gear and a backpack so that I could start with some good reference material.
